How do I check out books and DVDs?
With your CCAD ID.
What can I check out?
To take home: circulating books, DVDs, some magazines, bookbinding instruction kits, 'zines, overnight reserves, & drawing aids like hands, feet, skulls.
For in-library use: items on reserve, Wacom styluses, most magazines, Library Use Only items, Special Collections & Archives, and drawing aids Chester the Torso and Fluffy the Cat Skeleton.
This book says Library Use Only. I guess this means I can't take it home.
You are correct. You also can't check out most magazines and newspapers, but you can read them in the library, scan them, or take a picture.
How do I authenticate from off campus?
Enter your Last Name and your CCAD ID barcode number:
My instructor says there are books on reserve here. How do I get them?
Reserve books are held behind the circulation desk. We check them out to you for reading while in the library, so bring your student ID.
What is an Overnight Reserve?
Overnight reserves are books or DVDs that your instructor has put on reserve for your class that can be checked out overnight. They will be due at 10 a.m. the next day so you do not have to rush here when the library opens at 7:30 a.m. to return them.
I forgot my student ID! Can I still check out?
Maybe. We will occasionally make exceptions if you have some other form of ID, but if you make a habit of it, we'll stop. Sometimes we will take your keys if you're using a stylus or need a reserve book. But you really do need to bring your ID with you.
How many items can I have checked out at one time?
You may have 50 items total checked out at a time. You can check out 5 dvds per day.

Can I renew them?
Our computer system will automatically renew books, kits, circulating magazines, 'zines, & DVDs up to 6 times if there are no holds on them. This includes OhioLINK items but not SearchOhio items.
NOTE: Your account expires at the end of the semester, so anything you keep past your expiration date will be not be renewable!
If you are a returning student and would like to check out items over winter break, ask a librarian.
You can renew items yourself (including SearchOhio) online at My Account.
You can call us (614-222-3273) or come in to renew items.
Cintiq pens are not renewable, but if there are enough pens to loan, you can return the one you have and get a new one.
This record says it's an electronic book. What does that mean?
It means you can view it online, download it, or print it. See the eBook Subject Guide for more information.
Can I bring food or drink into the library?
We allow drinks with lids and non-messy snacks (no soup, spaghetti, hot wings, etc.) in the library. Please clean up after yourself.
Overdues
The CCAD Packard Library does not charge overdue fines.
BILLED, Lost, or Damaged Items
If any item has not been returned 30 days after its due date, it is assumed to be lost and goes into BILLED status. A stop will be put on your account, and you will not be permitted to check out further materials, use online resources, register for classes, or graduate until the item is returned or the lost/damaged item is paid for or replaced. See the fee table below for amounts. These fees will be waived if the item is returned or replaced.

CCAD magazines | $5 per item |
OhioLINK/SearchOhio items | $125 per item |
Cintiq pens and drawing aids | $95 per pen |
If the item is still in print and a clean copy is available at a reasonable price, we prefer that you purchase a replacement copy of the item. It must be the same edition or newer of the item. Contact Christine Mannix, cmannix@ccad.edu or 614-222-3273, for more information.
